The competition in the sleeper bus market is heating up as GV Florida Transport Inc. (GVF) introduces its latest sleeper bus, featuring amenities not found in other bus companies. As a pioneer in Sleeper Bus services (since 2008), GV Florida has long been recognized for its efforts in providing this unique travel experience.
Early Years
For many years, GV Florida dominated the sleeper bus segment without significant competition. However, their early sleeper buses were relatively basic, lacking the luxurious features seen in some Southeast Asian countries. These older buses featured uninspiring interiors, “not so generous” recliners, and limited space — barely enough for an average-sized passenger.
A New Era for Sleeper Buses in the Philippines
In mid-2023, GV Florida entered a new partnership with Swedish brand Scania as part of their fleet modernization efforts. The company initially ordered 14 Scania K360 units — later increased to 23 in 2024 — with the first four units designated as sleeper buses. The coachwork was done locally by Del Monte Motors, while the interior was designed and built in-house at GVF’s Pura, Tarlac facility.

The Launch of the Executive Sleeper Bus
On July 4, 2024, GV Florida unveiled its first two Executive Sleeper Buses during a handover event. These new buses introduced features never before seen on a Philippine bus.

The new buses were widely praised for their premium features, including pneumatic folding stairs, in-bus entertainment, and spacious, comfortable bunk beds manufactured by Uratex. The Executive Sleeper Buses were deployed on the Sampaloc, Manila–Tuguegarao route, priced competitively at PHP 1,800 — just PHP 100 more than its rival Victory Liner. Two additional Executive Sleeper Buses joined the fleet shortly after.
Sleeper Bus v3.0
Months later, reports from GV Florida employees hinted at an upgraded version of their Executive Sleeper Bus. Key details suggested a new color scheme and improved interior features. On March 10, 2025, GV Florida officially revealed the upgraded sleeper bus through a Facebook post.

The upgraded bus now sports a striking new shade of blue, distinguishing it from earlier models. Inside, the improvements are evident: larger beds, expanded headroom, and a reconfigured toilet now positioned at the rear of the bus. The in-bus entertainment system remains the same, but the most eye-catching change is the modern ceiling design and enhanced lighting system, giving the interior a sleek, contemporary feel.

Upcoming Units
According to Mr. Marvy Sales, Sales Representative of Scania Philippines, GV Florida is adding three more Executive Sleeper Buses in 2025, all of which will be built at GVF’s Tarlac Assembly Plant. He also noted that these upgraded sleeper buses were constructed from scratch, giving the company ample time to explore innovative design options for the interior.
These upgrades mark a significant step in GV Florida’s efforts to improve the sleeper bus experience for long-distance travelers.
